well here's the first offical real legit blog post! :D i'm typing this in the morning before i have to go to college, i really don't want to go lol it seems like a rough semester already.
games have been sorta on and off for me recently, i've been burnt out... but my "main" game i'm currenty playing is Flower, Sun, and Rain on the Nintendo DS. it's a game made by Suda51 who i've only really experienced his works through The Silver Case and the little bit of No More Heroes that i've played. The Silver Case was such an amazing game, it's a visual novel but instead of using the traditional NVL or ADV formats, it uses its own combination of visual presentation styles that really makes it stand out. everything from live action sequences, to anime cutscenes, to 3D enviornemnets for you to investigate, to of course CGs. it's characters are wonderfully done, i was really able to get behind most of them. i really enjoy that they just feel like Guys yknow, they arent like crazy shounen protagonists or anything they're just guys. anyway i could talk about The Silver Case all day but it ties into Flower, Sun, and Rain.
Flower, Sun, and Rain stars Sumio Mondo, a character sharing the same name as Sumio Kodai a character from The Silver Case. this is absolutely not a conincidence, but of course that's a spoiler nor something i know (i'm still playing the game!!!!!!!!). basically you're on this island called Losspass, where you're hired by the Hotel Mananager to stop a bomb on a plane at the airport about to depart. it's main gameplay just consists of Walking and solving puzzles, but manages to still have plenty of charm. i saw somewhere call it an aquired taste, and honestly yeah. i'm still VERY early in the game, but i hope i can make some progress in the next week.
next up, to help with my burn out i wanted something short and something i'm familiar with, so what better than Cave Story! Cave Story was originally an indie game made by Pixel, inspired by classic games with a platformer/metroidvania type of gameplay. honestly it doesn't really need an introduction, i feel like most people know it. anyway it has been helping me a lot, its gameplay always feels fun and its just very charming. my goal for this run is to beat Hell (the Bloodstained Sanctuary), the secret last level of the game where it is painfully difficult and beating it leads to the true ending of the game. i've come close before but it's always been a struggle for me. i'm using a guide to make sure i can get all the missile and heart upgrades to make sure i can clear it successfully, wish me luck!!
well that's it for this blog! i have homework to get to, if you read this, i thank you for reading! blogs will be pretty infrequent, i think like weekly or whenever i finish something and want to make a review blog i will. this was my first blog so i'm still feeling my way around everything, mostly length, making what i write more interesting etc. i'll try to only focus on about 2 things so i can write a lot about both, but we'll see.
until next time!
this is my first ever blog post, hooray! i'm writing this past midnight, so this just serves more as an explanation for why i wanted to start a blog and what to expect.
starting a blog is something i've wanted to do for a long time. i'm constantly thinking about tirin, and commericalized modern social media is. so making a webpage exactly the way you want it, with what you want on it (just like people used to do) is what i've craved for so long.
just due to privacy i'll mostly skip on details about my personal life. in regards to that it'll be vague while the main focus of these blogs will be talking about the media (games, anime, tv etc) i'm currently going through. no character limit or anything to stop me either from sharing my full thoughts.
this site is absolutely very primitive at the moment but i'll keep working on updating things and making it look a bit more polished (i still want that old school vibe yknow).
until next time~
